B'nai Tikvah Synagogue in South Jersey

Mission Statement

Mission Statement

Congregation B'nai Tikvah is committed to balancing the need to maintain tradition while meeting the spiritual needs of contemporary Jews. Therefore, our community decisions are based on careful study of both traditional sources and contemporary Jewish thought.

Our tradition teaches the world exists because of three things, Torah -- Jewish learning, Avodah -- worship, and Gemilut Hasadim -- acts of loving kindness.

Torah -- learning. As a community committed to Jewish learning Congregation B'nai Tikvah offers programming that engages people of all ages and levels of knowledge in relevant, meaningful study, which enhances understanding of Judaism, and inspires our members to integrate Jewish thought and practice into their daily lives.

Avodah -- worship. As a religious community, Congregation B'nai Tikvah offers the opportunity to participate in a vibrant, spiritually enriching environment in which traditional elements of prayer and ritual are interwoven with contemporary and innovative practices.

Gemilut Hasadim -- acts of loving kindness. As a community dedicated to tikkun olam (repairing the world) Congregation B'nai Tikvah recognizes Jewish tradition’s mandate that we act as God’s partners in creation. Our congregation is therefore committed to celebrating with, supporting and caring for our members, taking care of our world, and assisting those in need.

Coming Events
Faith in the Future
"We came from a country where we could not practice religion and now can. It's important for us to belong to a synagogue ... when we see how the children participate in services, it's so exciting - we did not have this in Russia ... We want to see the synagogue grow so [the children] have room to learn and study."
