Rabbi Michael Fessler


Rabbi Michael Fessler, is a native of River Falls, Wisconsin and Columbia, Maryland.

A 2001 graduate of the Reconstructionist College, Rabbi Fessler holds an A.B. in biology from Brown University. During his time as a rabbinical student, he served as student rabbi of congregations in Burlington, New Jersey and Punta Gorda, Florida; worked with Jewish college students at West Chester University; and completed two internships in geriatric chaplaincy at the Philadelphia Geriatric Center/Temple Continuing Care Center. In addition, he completed a year's internship at CLAL: The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, and taught children, adults, and families at synagogues across the mid-Atlantic region.

Rabbi Fessler and his family spent the year following his ordination in Jerusalem, where he was a fellow in the Melton Senior Educators program at Hebrew University, studying Jewish adult and family education. He joined the B'nai Tikvah Community in July of 2002.

Rabbi Fessler is married to Rabbi Miriam Hyman with whom he shares his position as rabbi of Congregation B'nai Tikvah. Rabbis Fessler and Hyman are the parents of Ariella, Raphael, and Tamar.
